Major mining companies the world over are investing large sums of capital and time in developing new access drifts, sinking new shafts and building new underground facilities to extend the productivity and active life of different mining operations. These and other recent collaborations between the civil engineering and mining industries indicate that the two antagonists of old are once again finding benefit in the expertise of the other.
