USA-based GCP Applied Technologies announces the introduction of its TYTRO® Shotcrete System (TSS), a complete state-of-the-art admixture solution that is designed to deliver lower costs, superior performance and reduced cycle times in comparison to conventional systems that are currently available.
The new system includes a nanotechnology-based rheology control agent, patented macro synthetic fibers, and a number of other newly developed admixtures that improve the efficiency of the spraying operation, as well as the material performance.
In addition to providing the capability for a reduction in operating costs and minimizing excavation downtime – without sacrificing performance or relaxing safety standards – the TYTRO® Shotcrete System provides faster early strength and enhanced bonding-to-rock with an increased one-pass thickness build-up. The system also minimizes rebound during spraying.
The main advantages provided by the TYTRO® Shotcrete System, based on results from both internal and external data, and compared to conventional mixes include:
GCP’s complete portfolio of solutions for the mining and underground construction industries includes admixtures for shotcrete and concrete, proprietary fiber reinforcement systems, injection technologies for ground support, and waterproofing systems for shotcrete.
The company – which is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts – combines its technical expertise in shotcrete mix design optimization, on-site monitoring systems and ground control technologies, to fit the unique requirements of each individual project. Additionally, GCP’s technical specialists work to provide solutions for overcoming geotechnical challenges around the world.
GCP Applied Technologies provides specialty construction chemicals and specialty building materials for many of the world’s most renowned structures. With customers in 110 countries, operations on six continents, and a team of approximately 2,850 employees, GCP enjoyed 2015 net sales of US$1.4 billion. Formerly part of the W.R. Grace & Co. Group, GCP Applied Technologies Inc. became a NYSE-listed company (GCP) in February 2016.
