COWI has designed several important infrastructure projects in Southeast Asia including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Immersed Tunnel, South Korea Busan-Geoje Fixed Link and Hong Kong Stonecutters Bridge. Now the Copenhagen-headquartered consulting engineer is strengthening its position further with the move to its new office in the Gateway East building in Downtown Core, Singapore.

“Any city with Singapore's population density will have challenges, and we believe COWI can help overcome them – as we are doing through our design work on the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Phase 2. Across Southeast Asia we have combined local presence with global knowledge to win major roles on projects like the forthcoming ShenZhong Link in China, the Karnaphuli Tunnel in Bangladesh and the new 8km long Cebu-Cordova Expressway Link in the Philippines.

The inauguration of COWI Singapore means we can offer our full suite of industry–leading engineering skills and continue to build our local team," said Vince Goh, COWI Regional Director in Singapore.

In Singapore, nearly 6 million people live in an area of just 720km2, yet it is consistently named as one of the world's most liveable cities, largely due to the government's innovative and proactive approach to urban development. This philosophy aligns with COWI's vision to create coherence in tomorrow's sustainable societies.

"Southeast Asia is a big growth market for COWI and Singapore has always been very attractive to us, with our marine engineering team spearheading establishment of a COWI branch office in early 2014. Following solid growth, the establishment of COWI Singapore PTE LTD is the next step, allowing us to further widen our client base. The local engineering talent, the country's sustainable approach to urban development, and the excellent location to build a platform for further expansion across the region were all favourable conditions," said Jotham Vizard, Senior Vice President of Tunnels and Underground structures at COWI.

COWI has 6500 employees, offices globally, and more than 85 years of experience in the business.
